Food and Fulfilling Your Higher Purpose

This week’s topic is food and what good nutrition has to do with fulfilling your higher purpose. It is inspired by a reader who commented on last week’s blog post (on the topic of living from creation rather than from survival). Christopher shared that for him, good nutrition is a must for living from creation rather than survival. (What a great topic for this week of Thanksgiving!) Christopher writes,

“Hi Christine, I am having to resort to diet changes to get more connected to higher self/ earth/ love. Certain foods greatly aid my success. When I eat less food and eat slowly and mindfully and eat cruciferous veggies, raw chocolate (with stevia for sweetener), green tea, then I do much better.

If I eat sugar, refined carbs, meat, or if I eat too much (more than 80% full) this hinders my ability to connect with Spirit. In fact last night I did not eat anything after 3 pm and just had a green drink for dinner.

This is a sacrifice but for me well worth it.”

I have to agree with what Christopher writes. He has discovered the habits and foods that can drag him down, and he avoids them as a result. (It’s about practicing Self Love.)

In general, it is harder to connect with the energy of creation, fulfill your higher purpose, and keep consistently “on track” and enjoy life to the fullest when you have extra pounds to carry, when you have poor energy, or when you experience pain or other unpleasant symptoms in your body. (Sometimes, we experience these things so that we can learn specific lessons and then teach what we’ve learned so that it will become easier for others to take care of themselves better.)

I have found that for myself, it is easier to connect within and follow through with my inner guidance when my health is good. This often requires that I be very conscious of what I put into my mouth. For me, this means avoiding processed foods of all kinds, wheat, dairy, eggs, sugar, soy, processed vegetable oils, artificial sweeteners and genetically modified foods.

The most common genetically modified foods are soy, canola oil, corn and, I recently heard, sugar from sugar beets. Avoiding genetically modified foods is critical as tests have shown that they damage the organs in the body (particularly the liver and kidney, the organs that detox your body). Artificial sweeteners are known to damage nerve endings in the brain. When the synapses in the brain become impaired, this will, no doubt, affect your ability to connect with higher consciousness. As a general rule of thumb, any “food” that is not found in nature is considered a toxin by your body.

I have been changing my diet over the last couple of years and have conducted some food experiments on myself. Although I have never been one to eat lots of junk food (I grew up on homemade food and I love to cook), I have found that by eliminating certain foods I was “sensitive” to, I lost some bloat and felt a lot better.

I have also noticed that when I get off of my healthy regimen for a few days or a week or longer (during the holidays, or because of some other excuse), not only do I regain the few pounds of bloat, I also experience fatigue, weird muscle soreness in my body and even small fever blisters on my lips.

That’s right. Ever since I was a kid I have been susceptible to fever blisters (sometimes called cold sores) after a bad cold or flu. But the slight fever / flush I feel in my face after “testing” myself by reintroducing gluten and dairy into my diet for a few days has resulted in tiny, “low grade” cold sores showing up on my lips a few days later. This happened four times already in the last year or so, after I went off of my “clean” diet. (The barely noticeable flush I feel in my face seems to be my body signaling an inflammatory response.)

I have found that how I feel in my body does affect all other areas of my life. I know that I’m not as “on target” when I’m feeling bad as when I’m feeling good. I tend to put things off when I’m feeling bad, and I’m not living in the moment as much. So how can you live in creation when when you’re struggling in the area of health, when you put life off because of your health, when you’re not living in the moment?

Wherever you are in your diet and health regimen, I recommend smaller amounts of nourishing, whole foods that are chewed well—organic, free range, grass fed, and raw when possible. Smaller amounts of nourishing foods will satisfy you more and make sure your body has the energy it needs for productive, satisfying activities such as fulfilling your potential, your higher purpose. (Overeating on the other hand results in much of the body’s energy being used in digestion and the processing and storing of toxins.)

According to nutritionist and fitness expert JJ Virgin, more than half of all Americans are sensitive to foods such as wheat, dairy, eggs and sugar.  To learn more about good nutrition (and the easy way to reduce food cravings), I wholeheartedly recommend JJ Virgin (she has a new book coming out next month titled, The Virgin Diet) as well as Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch. Matt Monarch has a great list of the foods that are okay to eat on his “Whole Foods List,” available on his RawFoodWorld.com website. Since Matt’s list is not easy to find, I am including a link to it here:

Matt Monarch’s Whole Foods List

I wish You and Yours a wonderful and joyful Thanksgiving, and please remember to chew each morsel of good food well!

    Christine,

I love this post. So many people who wish to connect with source don’t learn this part until much later in their journey. I believe it is essential to get the body healthy in order to even handle some of the changes that occur when we begin reconnecting. For example, when our holy temple is off balance, connecting with source can seem more like an overload. It’s sort of like trying to do a cleanse too much too quickly. The end results are still great, but its more painful getting there.

    • Thanks Josh! I totally agree with you. What one puts into one’s mouth affects all aspects of one’s life. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Christine,
We are so immersed in our habits, especially what we eat and drink which are hugely influenced by advertising and the habits of those around us. This is a timely and important message that will help offset the “Other” messages we are deluded with everyday.
    Thanks,
    Les

    • Les, changing our habits and lifestyles to reflect the higher awareness and consciousness is part of our process right now in creating a New Age, a Golden Age. Thanks as always for your comments. Christine

Hi Christine, I appreciate you addressing this most important topic as diet, nutrition, and eating habits greatly influence our vibration. And without a higher vibration we cannot go to the 4th and 5th Dimensions. And with this higher vibration we are able to be more in a state of love and see the Beauty in the world. And this beauty appears in how we see and appreciate nature, people, animals, and allows us to experience the connection with the sacred, with the Mother.

I was fortunate to get started by having a serious fungal infection and get boils on my legs and without these symptoms I thought , Oh I eat well. I eat organic and lots of vegetables, etc. What I didn’t realize was how bad I would feel after I ate. I just thought that was normal since that is what I have felt my entire live. For 61 years.I would get tired, sluggish, almost fall asleep if I ate grains, even whole grains. I was gluten intolerant and had candida overgrowth and probably food allergies. And without the boils on my legs I probably would still be eating that same unhealthy diet. I manifested that illness, that disease.

It woke me up and allowed me to participate in the Ascension. The higher my vibration the happier I am and the more Beauty I see and am able to experience and appreciate. Also, I experience more compassion for myself, others , and the Earth.

Hello Christine, GM Food is one of the biggest crimes to humanity in the damage it does to the body and i found out recently that it causes your DNA to change hence the” genetically modified” name (food?) It is not food for the gods, humans, animals or any living thing, IT IS POISON and along with chem trails, vaccines, fluoride in our water to name a few that are designed to cull us, Thank god for people like you in helping more to wake up and become aware. Love and light as always Selina x

It’s wonderful that so many people are on the right track as far as eating healthier. I’m just wondering how eating animals and animal products can be included in somebody’s diet who is trying to raise their vibration. There is no such thing as humane meat, dairy, or eggs. There is a tremendous amount of suffering and death involved in all animal products….especially dairy and eggs. Cows and chickens who provide these products end up being slaughtered at a young age as soon as they are “spent.” As far as the “grass-fed, free range” meat goes, it still involves an animal that wants to live as much as you or I do. How can anyone connect with their higher consciousness when they have in their bodies suffering and death of another sentient being?

    November 20, 2012
    • Hi Sharon, I do believe we are evolving toward that state, but I have to agree with Christopher that gluten, dairy, processed foods and sugar affect people a lot more in a bad way than a bit of meat. Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch are raw fooders who eat no meat. Perhaps they are on the ideal path? If I were to change my diet now and become the typical vegetarian (who eats lots of pasta, tofu, tortilla chips, sugary foods, etc.) I know I’d be feeling a lot worse. It’s a process to get to the ideal lifestyle, one that humanity will not achieve overnight.

Dear Sharon Engel, what you are saying is probably true…that killing and putting this dead meat in my body is not the purest of activities and is harmful to other beings. And I am doing the best I can. From my personal experience I find that eating sugar, over eating, and refined foods affect my body and vibration more than eating little bit of meat. Maybe I am not sensitive to the impact? I don’t know.

Some people go to extremes where they don’t drive in cars and wear masks so they don’t kill bugs…but eating vegetables promotes killing of organisms in the earth. Living in the NW I am forced to kill slugs since they would eat my plants if I didn’t. I/we are faced with choices and maybe I am rationalizing but I am making choices with the best of intentions. As I am sure you are.

In regards to the last two comments i would like to say that Sharon is right that eating animals that are slaughtered in a state of fear can affect your vibration as “you are what you eat” so to speak. Also if a person chooses to eat animals as we have free will to decide whatever we choose is okay, From what I understand the animals that are eaten know before they are born and they know they are eternal beings, as we are all in the great circle of life.

Living in Denmark, I sometimes have a hard time seeing if the situation is the same so far away from USA. For example we have a lot of ecologic and healthy foods, and almost no GM food. Could anybody give advice on how big a difference that is in foods, and should i still avoid eggs if they are ecologic etc.?

Christine, in your comment above (addressed to me) you seemed to imply that if you changed your diet to vegetarian, it would mean that you would need to eat pasta, tofu, tortilla chips, processed food, and sugar. I know that you know that Vegetarian just means eating no meat and has nothing to do with what ever else one chooses to eat. A lot of the vegetarians that you are speaking of have probably given up eating animals for “humane” reasons and are not looking so much at the health issue. Please don’t hold them up as the ideal/typical vegetarian. For good health, processed foods (tortilla chips, pasta, sugar breads, etc), should not be consumed by anyone.

This discussion seems to be focused on deprivation. To me, a vegan diet is all about an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, legumes, and whole grains (not wheat). My plate is full. And personally I don’t want any mammal, fish, or bird to suffer and die for my food preferences. I do feel badly for the bugs and the slugs (as Christopher mentioned) but they are not as sentient as the food animals that are brought into this world, raised in horrific conditions, living tortured lives and slaughtered in fear.

I believe that each of our consciousnesses are moving upward little by little, one person at a time, heading toward a higher and higher moral/ethical/spiritual development. I just wish it were happening faster. 🙂

    • Hi Sharon,

I agree with you here. It is about how fast a person (and their family, in a lot of cases) can make changes in their diet / lifestyle. I admire Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch (raw food teachers). I have also seen some amazing health in people who follow the Paleo diet along with some grains such as quinoa and rice. I have a bit to go before I am doing my ideal diet, 100% of the time. In the meantime, I am clear which foods DO cause the most harm to people’s well-being and I hope to share some useful info on this topic on my blog (even though it’s not a blog on nutrition). Thank you so very much for sharing your insights on nutrition! Christine

See the first trickles of wondrous change and know in your hearts the vast floods are following. – channeled by Ron Head
November 27, 2012 in Michael, Ron’s Channeled Messages

We perceive at this time your beautiful anticipation and your efforts to ready yourselves for the twelve-twelve gateway. Please do not allow yourselves to go into the energy of stress over this, dear ones. Your course has been set by your desire and intentions.

We are working with you every moment, especially during your cycles of sleep. You are in the flow so firmly now that you should be able to just allow yourselves to be carried along with the current. We would ask you to use three images for the next few days.

First, please be sure that, as often as you can think of it, you ground yourselves firmly into the energies of your dear mother earth. Our channel uses the image of a vast system of roots, as those of a great tree. This will work nicely indeed if you have not an image of your own.

Next, as you feel the wonderful flow of unconditional love surrounding you, please see yourselves sharing it with the entire network of lightworkers on and around the planet.

And finally, breathe into your heart, find your love and gratitude for all that is transpiring, and send that gratitude to the source of your life. Be thankful for all that you are and all that you are becoming. What you feel in those moments, allow yourselves to sit in, float in, absorb into every cell of your being.

Some of you, most of you, are getting momentary glimpses, hints, moments of insight, into what may be approaching for you. These will expand, slowly for some, explosively for others. Savor them, rejoice in them, but perhaps hold them for now quietly in your hearts. Let their energies grow within you. You will know when to share them.

Meantime, as the tsunami of internal change approaches, please await it with joy and love. It is, after all, the answer to your collective prayers and the hopes of billions over vast stretches of your cycles of time. See the first trickles of wondrous change and know in your hearts the vast floods are following.

Hold our hands tightly now and prepare to step into your future. Hold us in your hearts as we hold you in ours. Good day.

Christine, another thing about diet that I have discovered is that if we move toward healing and researching what will help us then we are led in the correct direction. My unscientific viewpoint- I have found antioxidants are powerful.. They provide support to mitochondria and mitochondria influence the pineal gland, our connection to source and just behind the 3rd eye, 6th chakra.

Yes, Christine, I know this is not a nutrition blog. I know that your original intent was to say that a healthy body is more likely to help you live from creation rather than survival. And you say that you are not perfect in your diet yet. (it’s more about process than perfection). Focusing on cleaning up one’s diet is very commendable, but my original intent was to throw out the question for comments as to whether eating an animal that has been brought into the suffering and misery of the animal agriculture business, lived a wretched life, and then slaughtered/murdered in fear and terror would be helpful in any way. I can’t imagine that the energy of that tortured animal doesn’t live on inside us.

    December 1, 2012
    • Hi Sharon, I agree with you. The way that animals are being treated in factory farming is another thing that has to be (and will be) transformed. The conditions they live in, what they are fed, etc. There are so many things we can do to make things better on this planet, and it WILL happen. It all begins with raising our consciousness and then making the changes we are guided from within to make (rather than just going along with things as they currently are). Thanks for being persistent here and for sharing your views. Christine

Hi Sharon, I appreciate your struggle with eating ethically and morally. Although I eat beef, I eat only grass fed with no grains or chemicals from my local grower and they slaughter the animals there in a humane way. I could go and witness the killing if I desired though I do not. I never eat regular store bought beef.

But I do not judge or think less of those that eat beef or anything else. We all just do the best we can and do it with consciousness and great gratitude. Gratitude is the key for me. Gratitude for what I have on my plate and for the beings who sacrificed so that I might eat.

Blessings to you in your desire to explore and understand.

All of you commenting here are good, thoughtful people. We all think of ourselves as ethical and kind human beings, but I guess I’m just asking you to think a little deeper about how your food choices are affecting other sentient beings. We each have to ask the question: What kind of person are we? Will we accept what our society dictates today, or will we write our own story? Will we rationalize the status quo or thoughtfully make our own decisions based on our own moral and ethical values? Will we oppose cruelty or support slaughter?
We live in a world where gentle, innocent animals are merely products that people toss into their grocery store shopping carts. There is never a thought about that product once being a unique individual that has experienced a life, with preferences, emotions, and memories same as all living sentient beings. Our choices cause them to suffer and die horribly. Grass-fed or factory farmed, a choice to eat animals deprives these beings of the life that they want to live.
