It’s important to recognize divine guidance at this time of great change. But how do you tell divine guidance from mere coincidence? Maybe you’re actively seeking divine guidance in your life, but you’re not yet confident in your ability to distinguish between a coincidence and a sign from the Universe. In this article, I share some of my experiences with receiving divine guidance.

I wasn’t always confident in my ability to distinguish divine guidance and signs from the Universe from mere coincidence. Neither was I confident in my intuitive abilities. In fact, the idea of receiving guidance from the divine wasn’t even in my consciousness (the impression I grew up with was that it was something that had died out with the Saints). It wasn’t until I experienced a huge crisis in my life (that I had no idea how to resolve) that I actively sought it out.

When I began my process of developing a connection with my higher self so that I could receive higher guidance, amazing things began to happen to me regularly. (Things really kicked in when my higher self got that I was committed to following through with the guidance I received.)

Sometimes when I had a specific question I wanted answered by higher guidance, I’d receive the answer when I awakened at night; it would just come to me in my thoughts as I was waking up. Other times the answer would come to me through other people, on the radio, or by “randomly” picking up a book at the library. By cultivating a relationship with my higher self and developing trust in it, I realized I was increasing my connection to Interconnectedness, to the Divine. (Some call this “the void,” All That Is, or Source. Still others use more technical terms such as “Zero-Point Field.”)

Besides the types of intuitive happenings mentioned above, I also experienced another type of guidance from the universe. This was when something “out of the ordinary” or unusual happened more than once in a short time period. When something unusual happened two or three times in a row within, say, a 24-hour period, I learned that this was a sign from the universe and I needed to pay attention. Sometimes it motivated me to take some kind of action, but sometimes I just needed to notice it without doing anything in particular. The connection would become clearer later. The following is an example.

The Volcano Example

Several years ago, I received an email one morning from a friend from college named Mary who lived in New York City. The email let me know that she and her husband had just bought a house on “The Big Island of Hawaii–the Volcano island.” When I read the email I “heard” the word volcano emphasized in my mind. (Besides, Mary was a busy medical doctor who sent only the briefest of emails, why was she telling me something I already knew?)

After I read her email I dropped my kids off at school and after a short hike, stopped by Trader Joe’s for groceries. I poured myself a cup of coffee and chatted with the woman whose job was to offer samples of Trader Joe’s products. As I was pouring my coffee Stacey said, “That’s our new coffee you’re trying. It’s Volcano coffee.” She offered a sample of some new food to another customer, then turned to me again, saying, “You’re trying our new Volcano coffee. How do you like it?” (Stacey also seemed to emphasize volcano.)

A light bulb went off in my head: two different people referred to “volcano” three times within about two hours when usually, nobody talks about volcanoes. I got this was a sign from the universe for me to pay attention, but I had no idea why. (I couldn’t do anything about any volcano! And the nearest volcano was about 250 miles away.) In such cases, I learned to simply make a mental note to myself: e.g. “There’s something about a volcano.”

Two days later I drove to the Post Office with a package. I scanned the radio stations, searching for a decent song to listen to when a news reporter announced that earlier that day, a volcano had erupted on a small island in the Pacific. (Interestingly, this was the only mention of the Volcano eruption I came across, which I just happened to hear because I was playing with the radio dial.)

Of course I wasn’t supposed to do anything about the volcano. But the incident further validated the idea that whenever something unusual happens two or three times in a row, it’s in your best interest to pay attention. (And it also helped validate to me that I was “in tune” with divine guidance.) The following is another example.

The Treasure Hunt Example

I have a friend whose higher self sends him on “treasure hunts.” Sometimes he will hear his inner self say, “turn right here”–and he does. One night he was driving down the freeway when he was directed to exit and drive into a parking lot at Walmart after closing hours.

“Now what?” he asked, sitting alone in his car in an empty lot, feeling a bit silly. (This kind of thing happened to him a number of times and he had learned to be amused by it.)

“Look to your right,” he “heard” his inner voice say. He went outside and found a CD player with several CDs in it, and the music and lyrics on a couple of the CDs were meaningful to him.

Stuff like this actually happens; it happened to me many times and it can happen to you. My understanding about this is: by sending him on these treasure hunts, his higher self is teaching him to have greater confidence in divine guidance. I know that this skill of following his inner guidance will become mighty healthordisease.com useful to him when things really get going on this planet. I am sure that following your inner guidance will play a bigger role in the very near future as the many changes in the world come about. The more you experience such synchronicities after you follow through with divine guidance, the more confidence you will have in it.

From time to time I like to add a useful excerpt of a channeled message:

“Trust in your inner guidance as you go about your daily activities and follow the inner promptings as they occur.

Many momentous events are taking place on a Cosmic level and those who follow their inner guidance know that these are not ordinary times that you are living in. It requires steadfastness, courage, trust and perseverance to continue on your daily path when all about you it seems that everything stays the same.

…We advise that the best avenue is to go within each day and intentionally align with your Higher Self and ask for guidance and direction. By daily making this intention a conscious habit, much that is good will flow into your life.”–Hilarion, channeled by Marlene Swetlishoff, May 20, 2012.

If you take the steps to cultivate a more real connection with your higher self, you will be guided on what to do so that the Divine Plan of a Golden Age for you and for humanity will manifest. In any case, increasing your connection with your higher self and learning to recognize divine guidance is certainly a reassuring and empowering experience during this time of confusion, unrest and chaos.

To receive the step by step how-to of reconnecting with divine guidance and learn about the bigger picture of the process we’re in (the Divine Plan), please check out my eBook titled, Activating 2012: A Practical Guide for Navigating 2012 with Confidence and Clarity. (Update: this book has been renamed The Spiritual Awakening Process: coming out of the darkness and into the light and is now available in both Kindle form and paperback on Amazon.)

In recent interviews, Drake (spokesperson for the “secret” Sovereignty movement being led by the Pentagon as well as a variety of groups at the local, state and national levels) discussed the basic sovereignty of the individual and the spiritual growth and evolution that each one of us is being urged to go through during this time of transition. As the many societal changes and the resulting confusion and chaos come about, we will no doubt be encouraged to look deeper within for answers. Drake proposed that:

“The average person is going to have to grow up considerably…We are to advance from this level of reality to the next level, like going from Cro-Magnon man to the present–that’s the amount of advancement we need to go through…The ancient cultures such as Atlantis will be child’s play [compared to what will be possible in the not-too-distant future]”–Drake, on James Madison’s Community Call Radio Show, April 26, 2012

In a more recent interview, Drake explained that the basic quality that people need to listen to is their conscience. The right thing to do comes from within, he said. It’s up to the individual to get back in touch with their conscience as to how to be and how to act. In a nutshell, it is time to “activate your spiritual self,” said Drake on Free Thinking Radio (BlogTalkRadio ), May 3, 2012.

Some of us have been working on our spiritual growth and evolution for many years and have much to contribute regarding how to activate our spiritual selves.  In light of this, I prefer to use the word “higher consciousness” over “conscience,” as “conscience” has been misused in religions as it often implies feelings of guilt. (I was raised Catholic and this was my experience.) Furthermore, to activate your spiritual self you must connect with and integrate with your “higher self” (also known as your true self, your soul, which is your direct access point to God, “Source” and the Divine Plan). Part of integrating with your higher self means following through with your inner guidance and making real changes that are in line with your higher self–rather than merely going along with “the way things are.”

In my eBook Activating 2012: A Practical Guide for Navigating 2012 with Confidence and Clarity I show that–without a doubt–the Divine Plan for humanity just on the horizon is a world that works for everyone, a Golden Age. Of course during the transition period there will be some confusion and chaos, but much of it can be mitigated by understanding the bigger picture of what’s going on–and why. None of us knows exactly how things will go down but I know that if it’s happening, it’s part of the Divine Plan. I also know that each one of us has a role in the Divine Plan that we are meant to play–which we discover by connecting within and following through. Many spiritual teachers, including channeled material such as that from Mathew Ward, have encouraged us to “go within”:

“We urge you to develop your capacity for discernment and go within for answers. Whether you think of this as reaching your higher self, godself, inner knowing, God Himself or any other designation you may call this “voice,” it is your soul, wherein all truth is known, communicating with your consciousness.” –Mathew Ward, May 1, 2012

But what does it mean to “look within?”

There’s a lot more to “looking within” than what those words literally imply. Looking within (or connecting within, meditating) is only the beginning of the process of spiritual growth and upliftment. There are other important steps involved that hardly anyone ever talks about. For example, if you keep looking inwardly but you ignore the inner guidance you receive (as often, it’s very subtle) or if your insights never get applied in real life, you will remain stuck at the beginning of the process and you will not advance.

Several years ago, when my life was a confusing mess, I spent months looking within and I became frustrated with myself for not making much progress. (I mean that I wanted to feel reconnected and integrated with my higher self, I wanted to gain a greater, more uplifting perspective, have more flow in my life, gain new insights, activate favorable synchronicities, make good things happen around me, etc.)

Then came the time when I got so fed up being stuck that I vowed to follow through with my inner guidance immediately and consistently. That meant I took some risks, of course: your inner guidance isn’t always going to agree with conventional wisdom or “the way things are.”

It wasn’t until I made the commitment to follow though and actually followed through (I trusted my higher self enough to do that) did I begin to experience the amazing synchronicities and new insights that began to flow into my life–including the “spiritual rush” that Drake mentioned (during his May 3rd interview) was much better than drugs.

So why would you want to look within and take the necessary steps to integrate with your higher self? So that you experience the connection with the Divine consistently in your own life and the upliftment and inner peace that results when you truly get what you came here here to get. (Which will be so important for you to experience in these uncertain times, and which will at the same time create the new world.)

Here are some words from Channel Blossom Goodchild that I just had to include here because they’re encouraging to those who happen to be trudging through the muck right now:

“Keep hold of your KNOWING within.  Walk that last mile together in strength. If your hearts did not KNOW DEEP DOWN INSIDE that ALL that you have been through and all that you continue to endure had a purpose … it would have collapsed in upon itself long ago. Yet it is because YOU KNOW that you KEEP ON … no matter what.  You FEEL it inside you  … there is no other reason you would persevere … other than this very fact that YOU KNOW that ALL that we have promised shall come about.”–Blossom Goodchild, May 3, 2012″

And some words from Channel Valerie Donner:

“We will continue to inform you as necessary. We will all proceed as directed. Right now I suggest you proceed with your inner guidance and direction. This is the source of your next steps and how we will communicate with you.”–Mira from the Pleiadian High Council, channeled by Valerie Donner, May 3, 2012

The Divine Plan (a world that works for everyone) cannot fail when we connect within and follow through with our inner guidance, and the events that are happening right now are pressing more and more people to awaken and to search within for answers. Connecting and integrating with your higher self is the key to fulfilling your contribution to the Divine Plan.

How do you pray in such a way so that your prayer is heard? What makes a prayer effective? This blog post discusses how to pray so that your prayers are answered–regardless of whether you’re asking God, the Universe, or beings in the higher realms to respond to your request.

I have found that prayer has worked much more effectively for me not when I ask God (or Jesus, or the Universe) to do things for me, but when I ask for guidance on how to resolve the situation I’m in and I follow through with the guidance I’m given. The kind of praying that we’ve traditionally been taught in religions (such as the ritualistic repetition of someone else’s words, asking God or higher beings to do things for us, to sweep the problems away) does not work much anymore, if at all. Much more is expected of us now than ever before. We’re being encouraged to raise our consciousness and become the masters of our lives. We are supposed to look out for our loved ones. So, prayers for teenage sons or daughters can provide God’s intervention and direction for their betterment.

I am clear that only those prayers that ask for empowerment within the Divine Plan will be answered. (This is one reason why the “Law of Attraction”–as it’s superficially understood–hasn’t been working.) Rather than praying for divine intervention to fix a problem for us, we ask for guidance and insight and understanding into the problem so that we can resolve it.

When we beg mindlessly, we inadvertently block the help we could receive if we included ourselves as active participants in the solution. In other words, only a supernatural prayer asking for empowerment, insight, and understanding can receive answers. This is particularly relevant now, as we’re being challenged to raise our consciousness and view ourselves as co-creators of a new world that benefits everyone. Our own insight, inner awareness, and self-empowerment are the means by which we can save ourselves.

So rather than imploring or repeating the words of others (as if prayers written by others have more power than our own words sincerely spoken), it makes sense to spend more time listening (receiving inner guidance, or God’s input), and then to integrate this guidance into our lives (by making changes that are congruent with it, by following through with the guidance).

The following is an example of a memorable prayer I spoke one night about 13 years ago when my car was stolen. What happened is that my husband’s teenage cousin had borrowed the car to go sightseeing in San Francisco and parked it at a train station in Sunnyvale (ironically one of the lowest crime rate cities of its size in the U.S.). When she returned that evening, the car was gone. The following is an excerpt taken from my book, What Everyone Believed: a memoir of intuition and awakening:

“Right before I went to sleep that third night [after the theft] I was inspired to say a prayer: I thanked God for having given me such a wonderful car; it had been so dependable for so long. I told God that the person who stole my car probably did so because he had met some unfortunate set of circumstances and couldn’t see another option for himself. And if that car wasn’t going to turn up, I asked that it provide for the new owner the same kind of reliability that it had provided me.

That was it; I was done with my prayer. I went over to W. who was working late on the computer, gave him a hug and a kiss, and went to bed feeling serene.

I didn’t know it clearly then, but this is what it means to say a prayer: you speak what is in your heart, you let things go (you become detached to the outcome), you send it off into the Universe (by simply having that intent), and then you allow the prayer to do the rest. (This is especially true in the case when there’s nothing you yourself can do about the outcome, i.e. you can’t just go out on your own looking for your stolen car.)

Around one in the morning the phone rang and I spoke with an investigating officer from the Mountain View Police, who informed me that my car had been found about 2 hours earlier (right around the time of my prayer). I listened as the officer explained that the car thief had asked a couple of unsuspecting youths for assistance in pushing my car to a gas station as it had run out of fuel. Then when a police car turned the corner and headed in their direction, the thief got out of the car in a flash and ran off, leaving the youths standing with my stalled car. Wow, I thought as I put down the receiver.

I suppose I stand corrected on my “problem-free” car–my fuel gauge had been reading inaccurately for some time. But the thief, of course, had no way of knowing this, and neither could he have known just how reliable to me my car really was…”

The interesting details of what happened were not lost on me–the fact that it was stolen in low-crime “Sunnyvale,” and found by the “Mountain View” Police. My car being found soon after I said my prayer. And the fact that what got me my reliable car back was my dysfunctional fuel gauge.

My understanding of prayer has increased since then. The way to pray so that your prayer is heard is to speak your own words from your heart and ask for guidance, listen to the still small voice within you, and muster up the courage to follow through with your guidance when you receive it. Know that you absolutely do need to be proactive about your higher purpose (your unique contribution to the new world) and that the feedback you receive from God / the Universe is what will help prevent you from being discouraged on your path.

A recent blog post of a spiritual blogger named Visionkeeper advised people to take some time out to go within and connect with who they really are. She acknowledged that we each have a unique purpose for being here at this time, and it’s important that we stop all the distractions and go within, go into nature, so that we can hear ourselves clearly and discover why we are here. She also mentioned that we all share a common purpose of learning to love and live life for others, not for ourselves. Other spiritual teachers have also proposed that lightworkers hold a philosophy of “service to others,” rather than “service to self.”

I like most of what she said, but the last idea isn’t very accurate and in fact, the situation is actually far more favorable than she thinks. Because the truth is, when you follow your inner guidance, others will benefit, but so will you. When you follow your inner guidance, you will help bring about the highest good of all, a win-win-win situation for everyone and everything involved. As long as you are clear that you’re following your inner guidance you don’t have to worry if you’re pursuing a path that appears to be service-to-self from the point of view of limited consciousness. (And of course we do need to take care of ourselves, or else we can’t really take care of others.) I will now explain how I came to understand this win-win-win principle.

In 2003 and 2004 when I was learning about Interconnectedness and about how that works, I came to understand that when you have the confidence to follow through with your inner guidance and then happen to benefit as a result of doing so, so does everyone else who is involved, even if it’s not always immediately apparent. (The benefit can be in the form of a favorable synchronicity, a new insight, receiving what you need to forward your higher life purpose, or some other form of universal cooperation.)

I happened to learn this because after following my inner guidance, I received what I needed to help me fulfill my higher purpose, and the people who offered me what I needed made a point of telling me how they had also benefited. This happened a few times in a row, so I knew it was more than just coincidence. (I had discovered by then that when something different or unusual happens twice or three times in a row, that it’s a sign from the Universe and that I needed to pay attention to what was going on and make note of my observations.)

New insights, more flow in your life, amazing synchronicities, and greater universal cooperation are what I consider the results or the “gifts” of following through with your inner guidance. Anyway, I was discovering that when you benefit after following your inner guidance, so will everyone and everything else around you–as everyone and everything else is connected to you through this “field” called Interconnectedness (which I have learned is accessed through your higher self). In other words, if you follow through with your higher self’s guidance, you will co-create win-win-win situations.

I admit this idea isn’t obvious at first but it makes complete sense when you take the time to think about it. If you follow your higher self’s guidance, why wouldn’t the result be for the highest good of all? Especially since your higher self is your access point to the Universe, to Interconnectedness, to Source, to Divine Plan. It seems unlikely that by following divine plan, someone or something would not benefit in some significant way.

It’s also unlikely that if one part of the Universe doesn’t benefit, other parts would. I will explain with a real-life “opposite” example.

A few years ago, I went to a Cornell alumni lecture on renewable energy. One of the speakers lectured on the benefits of producing corn for ethanol production.

Well, I happen to know that Cornell University is the home of a leading researcher in agriculture named David Pimentel, whose studies have shown that the net energy gained from the production of ethanol from corn is negative. This means that more energy is required to produce the ethanol than what we’re able to yield from it.

Anyway, the speaker was saying that if you put a cattle factory next to the ethanol distillation facility and you get the cows to eat the by-product of the ethanol production(the processed corn waste), this will increase the net energy yield, making the scenario much more favorable.

However…what about the Interconnectedness idea? Is corn ethanol a win-win-win proposal? Well, I have learned that cows don’t do all that well eating grains. With the corn by-product they would only get sicker and require even more antibiotics–which can’t be good for the cows, it can’t be good for the humans who eat the cows, and it also can’t be good for the farmers who have to buy more antibiotics to inject into their cows. (A lose-lose-lose proposal, except of course as a lesson in experience–but when are we going to be done with learning through suffering? Although the corn grower and ethanol producer appear to benefit from government subsidies that come from your tax dollars, it’s only in the short term illusion.)

And the clincher is that corn-based ethanol has a higher burden on the environment  and human https://ampills.com/ health than we thought it did, higher than even petroleum and diesel, according to a study released by the EPA about 2 years ago. (Cleaner air was the original argument used to promote the corn-to-ethanol idea.) So not only does growing corn for ethanol raise the price of food, researchers found that the total environmental and health costs for ethanol were greater than those for petroleum! (In 1993-94 I wrote a master’s thesis on the external costs of fuels and energy systems. The corn-for-fuel idea didn’t appeal to me then, either.)

So with regard to the environment, the people in our lives, and our quality of life (in truth, every single aspect of our lives), it’s time to follow through with our inner guidance and create win-win-win situations for everyone and everything–now that we know that this is possible. We can stop bothering with  “service to self” vs. “service to others” and focus on reconnecting within.

Do you feel that your daily struggles prevent you from fulfilling your higher purpose? In this post, I expand a bit further on the topic of higher purpose, inspired by a reader’s comment from my last post. Jonas wrote,

“My question is, I feel like my belief that I have a higher purpose places me in a position where I feel like I should back away from all my daily struggles and try “winging it”; as in listening to my inner guidance for the next step in life after having dropped major parts of my life (friends/family/job/living place) as a cause of this belief. Should I not be backing away from my struggles? Sometimes I feel like my struggles are distracting me from my higher self/purpose, yet this seems potentially like an excuse to “escape” the problems. Could I develop a greater connection to my higher self if I stopped the daily struggles/demands and solely focused on my inner development (as uncertain as the future may then be) or is it better for my growth to let the time come when my higher self gets through to me in spite (or because) of my daily struggles? Any advice or thoughts?”

What a great question! I totally get where he’s coming from and am reminded of the time several years ago when I was struggling to begin my higher purpose. I wanted to know what my higher purpose was, and I wanted to begin it, NOW! (That’s becasue my life was really painful back then. Some weird events had turned my life into a painful mess, and I just knew that the faster I was doing my higher purpose, the sooner my life would get back in order…A great motivator, by the way.)

The first thing the Counsel of Light had me do was develop a deeper, clearer relationship with my higher self. The Counsel of Light knew my life situation (a family, not a lot of free time, two little kids) so they asked me to spend about 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes before I went to bed in meditation, and to write for a few minutes whenever I had the chance.

They called this time in meditation cultivating the “vertical connection,” the connection with my higher self. I did not have a whole lot of time to focus on this vertical connection (my inner development) as I had family responsibilities while going through a personal crisis. In fact, most days a 10-15 minute meditation in bed is all I actually accomplished towards this vertical connection.

Then some months later the Counsel of Light talked to me about developing the “horizontal connection”–the connection you have in the real world. This was about bringing your higher self into the real world through your actions, attitude, speaking, and so on. So…there’s the vertical connection and the horizontal connection.

No one can say that the vertical connection is more important than the horizontal connection, or that the horizontal connection is more important. I have found that both are equally important.  And in fact, I discovered that it’s when I took action in the real world that I made the fastest spiritual progress. It’s when I worked the muscles of the horizontal connection that my confidence in my higher self (the vertical connection) grew the most.

Futhermore, following through with your inner guidance in the real world should help you resolve your daily struggles. It should help you get through your struggles successfully by finding new solutions to them. I still experience daily struggles, but I see them in a totally different light now. I don’t view them as obstacles to my goals anymore but rather as opportunities in disguise, placed there by divine design. In fact, the Counsel of Light said that going through the situation rather than trying to get out of it is a way to get you further than you ever thought possible. So rather than backing away from or trying to escape the struggles of daily life, accept them and ask how you can move things forward.

Remember that you don’t know what your higher purpose is. Nobody knows. I wrote in my last post that your higher purpose will likely be in an field you’re passionate about, but that doesn’t mean you have to be an expert in that field right now.

For example, I was not trained to be a writer; I knew I wasn’t any good, anyway. And I certainly wasn’t confident as a writer when I was told by the Counsel of Light that I would write books. However, the Counsel of Light “eased” me into this undertaking by telling me that I would write “children’s books.” (Children’s books…not such a bid deal. I think I could do it I thought back then…)

However…over time I developed the capacity to write by listening within, writing it down, and spending many, many hours working on my writing, getting feedback, etc. And once I was on a roll, the so-called “children’s books” became books for adults.

So with regard to the question of focusing on your inner development (the “vertical” connection), you really don’t need a lot of time out of your day to do that. Fifteen minutes a day in the morning, fifteen at night, and paying attention to your sacred space several times a day (which “preps” you to watch for your inner guidance) is what you need. And then what you really need to do is to implement (follow through promplty and consistently) in the real world (the “horizontal” conenction) for maximum growth and forward movement.

In summary, it’s the integration of the vertical connection with the horizontal connection that allows for the fastest personal and spiritual development.

Have you been keeping up with all that’s being reported lately in the online alternative press? A reader emailed me, asking for my feedback on some recent topics he’s come across. For example, he wanted my feedback on David Wilcock’s work at DivineCosmos.com, specifically on the recent articles David has written on global financial tyranny (and those responsible for it).

I have read parts of David Wilcock’s articles on global financial tyranny. I’ve also recently heard about the rumors of arrests of now over 300 bank CEOs, all around the world. There’s even a rumor that billionaire Bill Gates himself has been arrested. (Interestingly, Dr. Joseph Mercola wrote an article on Bill Gates just this past week, titled, Bill Gates: One of the World’s Most Destructive DoGooders?)

Besides these rumors, there’s a lot of corruption being exposed on the Internet in all areas of life. The way I see it, the mainstream is beginning to realize that the things we were led to believe were true, in many cases are not true. (And often I’m not surprised.)

Of course it’s a good idea to keep yourself informed, to raise your awareness about what’s going on. But at the same time, be careful not to get too caught up in distractions so that your own higher purpose suffers. My contribution at this time is to help people learn how to reconnect to their higher self such that they fulfill their unique contribution. You won’t see me posting much about solar flares, crop circles, alien sightings, financial markets and politics in this blog–because these topics are not relevant to reconnecting with your higher self and following your inner guidance. (Those topics would be relevant to you if your higher purpose is to contribute to and expand upon them.)

The way I see it, each and every one of us has a specific, unique gift that we are to share (with our family, community and world) and sharing that gift should be our priority. Neither you nor I can do much about the Banker arrests as neither of us are directly involved in that project. There are others who are directly involved and it is their job. Your primary focus is to fulfill your own higher purpose. (Which is what causes the great shift in your consciousness and contributes to The Great Shift in the world.)

Remember that only your higher self would know what that purpose would be, and you learn your higher purpose by following through with your inner guidance promptly and consistently.

So don’t get caught up in all these distractions but rather, use your time wisely by working on your contribution as much as possible by following through with your inner guidance promptly and consistently as well as working on the projects that call to you. Otherwise, you will take longer to fulfill your contribution than you need to. (For example, I could have easily taken longer than three months to write my eBook, but I kept focused daily and stayed away from Internet distractions.) Remember also, your contribution will most likely be in an area you’re passionate about and/or personally involved in.

Having said that, a couple of weeks ago I listened to an interview of a former Navy Seal named Bill Wood (aka Brockbrader) on Wolf Spirit Radio. (I did this while cleaning my house.) During the interview, one of the hosts named White Wolf said something I thought was brilliant. White Wolf explained why the changes that many have been wanting for quite some time are taking so long to come.

“No matter how bad your life seems to be, you’re walking in that negativity for a reason. You are putting yourself up against a wall for a reason… And the reason is to show you that you don’t want that anymore. But you understand that the Matrix makes you lazy. The energy Matrix of this prison that we are all involved in makes you lazy, makes you listless. And so it takes great adverse conditions to force us into proactivity.”–quote posted on Facebook, taken from a Wolf Spirit Radio interview, 2/23/2012 part 2, spoken by White Wolf.

I understand his point. It took me many months to “get the ball rolling” with my own higher purpose. And I understand why my life circumstances were as difficult as they were. If things had been easy, I would have remained stuck in my comfort zone. I also know I would have never done the things I have done the last several years if I wasn’t up against a wall.

Furthermore, I saw the crazy, confusing events in my life as catalysts that were designed to teach me how to help humanity with the transformation and shift in consciousness that’s occurring right now. If I had viewed them any less than that, I’m not so sure I would have done as well.

What is needed right now is the individual reconnecting to his or her higher self. Then from that place of inner power, you make choices about what you do or do not want to participate in, whether you want to read some material or belong to some group–or not. When your own individual inner guidance system is strengthened, you can make your choices based on your direct connection with Source, rather than on conventional wisdom. (I include in this category New Age conventional wisdom, Christian conventional wisdom, Buddhist, Kabbala, etc.–even if it differs from mainstream conventional wisdom.)
The truth is, most people on this planet are not there yet. (And I m not surprised the person wanting my feedback on these “off” topics has expressed to me his disappointment about not yet experiencing a lot of synchronicities around his own higher purpose. Maybe part of the reason is he’s too distracted?

Did you know that you can save money, time and energy by following your inner guidance? If the answer is yes, are you taking full advantage of it? In my last blog post, a reader named Charli (who’s been reading my articles for a while now) wrote in the comment section of this blog that following the promptings of her higher self has “always saved her time, or money, or energy.” I copied and pasted her comment below:

“I have found that small miracles happen to me so often now that I don’t write them down anymore.  I follow the promptings I get and within minutes or the next day, something happens that just blesses what I followed.  Things like, changing  an appointment, and then someone calls and invites me to a lecture I want to hear at the time the appointment WAS.   Or getting the prompting to stop by the mall (to which I haven’t been in months) and what I needed just “happened” to be on sale.   Following promptings from my higher self have always saved me time, or money or energy.”–comment from Charli

I love this comment from Charli because it confirms what I have experienced for years. In fact, I had written in my memoir (which was printed near the end of 2007) that whenever I needed something to further my purpose, I would receive it, usually within 24 hours of becoming aware of what it was that I needed next. This happened daily, and I became used to it–as if this is how life was supposed to be like.

And the following example shows that it still is that way: Just last week I was prompted to go to Marshall’s while I was food shopping at Trader Joe’s nearby. I found the perfect volleyball shorts for my younger daughter–at less than half the regular price. (Volleyball shorts are almost never found on sale, and Marshall’s rarely, if ever, carries volleyball shorts. But my inner guidance told me to go look for volleyball shorts!) The bonus is that my daughter loves them, too.

When you’re doing your higher purpose the favorable synchronicities will happen daily, and even more than once a day.

Sometimes they’re big synchronicities, sometimes they’re amazing, and sometimes they’re small. And if you haven’t yet done so, after you read this short post, read my last blog post about some pretty amazing synchronicities that happened to a friend of mine when he followed through with his inner guidance. I can’t think of a better way for the Universe to show you that you really are on the right path than to bless you daily, can you?

Now, when you get the “ball rolling” with reconnecting with your higher self and following through with your inner guidance, it does not mean that your life will all of a sudden become easy, or that you’ve arrived and are “done.” Rather, what I have experienced is that it will become easier to go forward in your life, to grow, and to fulfill your higher purpose—which is what will help create the Golden Age for yourself and for your community. In conclusion, it’s absolutely true … following your inner guidance helps save you money, time and energy.

Have you ever followed through with your inner guidance and something amazing happened as a result? In my last blog post I promised to share what happened to a friend of mine within a month of reading my first book, What Everyone Believed: A Memoir of Intuition and Awakening. I want to share this example with you to demonstrate the power of learning by example, the power of the “copy-cat” approach–as opposed to the learning of theory. But first, let me summarize the how-to (the method) for connecting and integrating with your higher self:

How To Connect With Your Higher Self

  1. Cultivate a relationship with your higher self (using quiet time in contemplation, daily meditation, taking a minute or two to “check in,” to focus on your sacred space several times a day)
  2. Learn to recognize and distinguish your inner guidance from your mental conditionings, your wants and outside influences
  3. Ask your higher self for guidance (e.g. ask specific questions, ask for clear guidance)
  4. Follow through on the guidance promptly and consistently (this part might require a bit of faith and courage at first)
  5. See what happens as a result, and begin to put the “puzzle pieces” together one by one

Don’t worry about step number 5 as this “synthesis” is done automatically. (Your mind will get it automatically. You will begin to see the bigger picture automatically.)

By following the steps above, you will discover who you really are and what you’re truly capable of. You will discover your unique contribution, your potential, your unique gift that you are to share with the world. The method described above is the best way to teach yourself, to discover all these things, as well as the best way to do the “emotional clearing” work (“energy clearing” work) that we’re all being asked to do right now as part of the shift in consciousness on this planet.

How long will all this take? That depends on your higher self’s plan. However, it doesn’t have to take long to achieve some results so that you’re encouraged to continue on this path. The following is a real-life example of what happened to a friend of mine within a month of reading my first book, What Everyone Believed: A Memoir of Intuition and Awakening.

A Friend Follows Through With His Inner Guidance

G. is a parent at my younger daughter’s school and works hard as a deck builder for homeowners in Silicon Valley. Years ago, G. had given up on his dream to own a vacation home in the Sierra foothills because he knew he couldn’t afford one. But after reading my book, he planned a camping trip to Bear Valley with his family…and visited a realtor while there.

The realtor informed G.’s family that there weren’t any properties available within their budget. But as they left the realtor’s office, G.’s inner guidance told him to look around on his own. They drove around…and came across a house with a “Sale Pending” sign on the front lawn. G.’s inner guidance told him to get out of the car and look around. He listened, even though it didn’t make any sense to him.

The property seemed perfect, everything G. and his family could have hoped for. G. knocked on the door and introduced himself to the owner, who welcomed them in and explained that despite what the sign said, the house was up for sale again. He explained that the deal had fallen through earlier that day, which put him in a terrible bind. (He had just bought a house in Oregon.) “Make me an offer,” he told G.

G. and his wife made an offer that was considerably below the owner’s asking price. “I can’t give you what you want for this house,” G. told the owner, “but I can give you my word I’m good for this much.”

The owner accepted G.’s offer. The following week G. and his wife found a mortgage with good terms. Then while working on a deck for a client, G. was offered a Viking stove, dishes, pots and pans, appliances, almost everything he needed to furnish his new kitchen…because he happened to mention that he had just bought a new vacation home. (And G.’s client just happened to be remodeling her kitchen at the time.) Then a friend of G.’s called to say that he was moving and needed to sell his furniture. So G. was able to furnish most of his vacation home for about five hundred dollars.

All this happened within one month of reading my book. G. told me that he attributes everything that happened to his feeling “in tune with himself” after reading my memoir.

This wonderful example happened a few years ago, but I spoke to G. about a month ago and he and his family are doing well…and enjoying their vacation home in the Sierras.

As you begin to see the results from following through with your own inner guidance (favorable synchronicities, new insights, “signs” from the universe, a sense of greater cooperation in life, etc.), your confidence and trust in your higher self (and in divine plan) will grow. It will continue to grow until you begin to trust your higher self more than anything or anyone outside of yourself. Having this kind of trust in your higher self will help you make huge strides in your personal development and in your unique contribution to your family and your community–which will help bring about the “Golden Age” much more quickly. This is the Divine Plan.

Look, your higher self wants you to learn to trust your inner guidance so that you fulfill your higher purpose here, so that you fulfill your potential. This is why more often than not, you will be richly rewarded when you follow through with your inner guidance. (It motivates you to keep going.) So then…are you finally ready to connect with your higher self and follow through with your inner guidance?

More and more people are beginning to realize that the next step in their process of spiritual growth and evolution (and the “Ascension” of their consciousness) is to connect to their higher self and seek within for their own guidance, rather than to look to other people or to channeled messages for guidance…regardless of which “ascended master” the message is coming from.

In fact, I received an email from a subscriber earlier this week in response to my last blog post titled, “Is Channeling On the Decline?”  Pat-Anjali Kennedy let me know that she and all the Channels she knows have recently been guided from within to pull back and stop enabling the people who are not yet seeking for themselves…because it’s urgent that each individual seeks his or her own guidance from within. (This may explain why medium Geoffrey Hoppe–who channels Adamus St. Germaine–did not channel during his “annual predictions” event earlier this year. Instead, he and his wife Linda gave listeners practical advice for the year.)

Pat-Anjali Kennedy was guided through her Source-Being: “It is time for humanity to begin seeking now to find it for themselves …It is urgent everyone does so, as they will not seek it as long as there are posted messages that serve to distract, delay, and enable them to become co-dependent upon Channeled messages….They must find it for themselves now. This now time is crucial.”

But at the same time, we hear that we are already connected to our higher self and are already receiving guidance. So then, what is the difference between someone who is in the later stages of their awakening and ascension and someone who feels they’re just a beginner? What is it exactly that we are to do in order to advance, since it’s true that we are already connected to our higher self/soul? What is going to make a real difference?

It’s All About Confidence

In a nutshell, the difference has to do with 1. the level of confidence you have in your ability to distinguish your inner guidance from your wants and mental conditionings and 2. your level of confidence in the guidance itself, which helps you to promptly and consistently follow through with your guidance, even if it’s inconvenient for you to do so. Following your inner guidance is particularly challenging when your intuition is prompting you to follow through with something that’s outside your comfort zone (or that challenges your beliefs).

When you’re a beginner, or experiencing a personal crisis, or really long for something to happen, or just unsure of things, it’s not that easy to distinguish your inner guidance from your mental conditionings or personal desires and move forward on your path. I’ve been there and I know what that’s like. It can be a personal hell, and I’m not surprised that some people, even those who consider themselves light-workers, are procrastinating, waiting for something, even though they know they ought to be taking action now.

In the beginning stages of my process, when I wasn’t sure that I was correctly interpreting my guidance, I’ve had to resort to trying different things, to creative problem solving. I even asked the Universe to give me blatant signs. I figured that given that a lot was being asked of me, the least the Universe could do is provide me with real signs that I could not ignore. Well, the Universe promptly delivered. I shared several of these “signs that I could not ignore” and how I asked for them in my memoir. (Which must have annoyed my first book editor to no end…because she crossed out all of that content with ink. So then I was forced to look for other editors that were not so closed-minded.)

And Confidence Comes from Creating Results

You start from where you are, and you take baby steps. And when you follow through with your guidance and something amazing happens as a result, you learn to have even more confidence in yourself the next time. This is the gist of it.

Here’s an example that’s short, sweet and simple to understand. About two and a half years ago, I was hiking in the Los Gatos foothills when all of a sudden I received guidance to call an acquaintance. I had promised to help with a project, and I wanted to let him know I could be counted on.

I realized I didn’t have his number in my cell phone contact list, but as I was hiking up the hill, I remembered I had called him recently. So I looked through my call history for a (650) area code number and dialed the first (650) number I came across.

An unfamiliar man’s voice answered, “This is KZSU and you’re the winner. “Can you hold?”

“Yes, I can hold,” I said, blown away, realizing I had just “by accident” called the radio station where my friend hosted a weekly radio show, wondering if the current host was going to ask me questions I couldn’t answer, or how I was going to explain that I wasn’t listening to this guy’s show at the moment.

Well, it turns out I won a pair of tickets to the Monterey Jazz Festival (and he did not ask me any questions I couldn’t answer). Even though I had been very confident in my ability to discern and follow through with my guidance by then, this amazing result amplified my confidence even more. (It’s nice to receive such positive feedback from the Universe.)

Notice that I did not hesitate to follow through with my guidance. Even though I knew I didn’t have my friend’s number, I looked for another way to call him. Notice also that there was a very small “window of opportunity” for getting this particular result. If you wait too long to follow through with your intuition, your window of opportunity will pass you by. This window also holds true for your ability to experience the Great Shift in consciousness occurring now on this planet.

We often learn by example. Some people don’t know that certain things are possible…until they learn about it from others (the “copy-cat” approach). In my next blog post, I will share what happened to a friend of mine within a month of just reading my memoir.

Some channeled messages that have promised events that did not not transpire have caused some channels to abandon channeling as well as some readers to stop reading and/or believing in channeled messages. A good recent example: Steve Beckow’s failed tryst with “Grener, the President of the Intergalactic Council.”

Does this mean that channeling is on the decline? I’ll do my best to try to explain why it’s actually a good thing that channeling is on the decline, even though channeling isn’t completely done with yet and messages will still be channeled that will be truly helpful to many.

One reason why channeling is on the decline is that we are to reconnect with our higher selves and receive our guidance directly. Ultimately, we are to receive our guidance directly from Source. We are not supposed to follow this channel or that channel, but to get our guidance and our insights from within–as much as is possible.

Another reason is that enough has been channeled already to transform this whole corner of the galaxy many times over. And yet not much has actually transformed in people’s personal lives and in the larger world.

That’s because channeling isn’t the cause of transformation. Channeling only works when people put into practice the helpful information that was channeled.

A third reason is that in some cases, the spirit guides of highest consciousness are transmitting fewer messages, or are simply leaving, because of the low quality of the questions being asked. This is true when spirit guides are being asked questions of a lower (e.g. victim) consciousness such as: When will Disclosure happen? When will First Contact occur? Why didn’t Steve Beckow’s journey to the stars take place? When will my soul mate show up?

In other words, instead of people asking really important questions such as: How do I transform myself? How do I connect to my higher self for guidance? How do I assist humanity during these very difficult times? How do I discover my gift that I am to contribute to the world? people are asking dumb questions about sightings or disclosure, or else they want to be given dates or “divine deadlines.”  In such cases, the medium may find herself having to “wing it” on her own.

I guess I must have asked the right questions because the Counsel of Light transmitted to me a lot of helpful information that I still don’t see being channeled 10 years later. The Counsel of Light never discussed Disclosure or sightings of spaceships with me. I (mostly) kept to the topics they considered of extreme importance, topics I knew were most important–meaning personal transformation and understanding what’s going on here.

Channeling does have its purpose. For example,  the Counsel of Light said that it’s important for people to receive a daily spiritual message. I found this to be true. During the time I was writing my books, I found it helpful to read Russ Michael’s daily spiritual newsletter (most of which was channeled). Reading the newsletter helped me to keep going on my book projects at a time when I wasn’t getting a whole lot of support from the outer world. In fact, I looked forward to the daily readings even though parts of the messages did not ring true for me at all. (However, I had no problem with that because I knew that the information transmitted must to some extent filter through the medium’s mind. And I had confidence in my ability to discern truth from fiction.)

Many of the channeled messages I have read over the years spoke about how important it was for light-workers to keep going, to keep on with their work. These messages helped me by encouraging me. Also, there were many hidden messages, some written “between the lines,” that affirmed my new understandings–and this further motivated me.

There will still be mediums who channel some good stuff, but really, isn’t it time you learned how to follow your own inner guidance? Because it’s time for you to take the next step in your own growth and evolution.

The light does not increase on this planet, or in your personal life, because of channeling. It increases when you connect with your Higher Self and become confident enough in your connection to follow through with your guidance promptly and consistently. Channeling is on the decline because it is Divine Plan that this be so. It’s time for the next step (to reconnect with your inner guidance), and it’s time for human beings to step up…and become spiritual adults.
